Candles

To obtain the best result and longevity of your candle, we recommend following these candle care instructions.

TRIM WICK BEFORE EVERY USE: It is normal in Coconut Soy Wax for your wicks to mushroom. This is easily fixed by trimming your wick to 5mm with our stylish wick trimmer. Trimming will ensure your candle does not burn hotter than it should, and will prolong the life of the candle. Trim the little ball on the end of your wick to keep your candle burning gently. Be sure not to cut it too short or it will become engulfed by wax.

BURN TIME: To prevent tunnelling and create a candle memory, the first time you light your coconut soy candle let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the vessel. Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Never leave a burning candle unattended and keep out of reach from children and pets.

AVOID DRAUGHTS: Ensure you place your candle on a stable and heat resistant surface away from flammable objects. Candles burn best in still air but if you can't avoid a breeze, turn the candle periodically to avoid uneven burning and possible candle collapse. A candle in a breeze may also start to smoke.

KEEP THE BURN POOL CLEAN: If you get any black debris at the rim of your candle vessel, simply wipe it away with a damp cloth. This may be a sign that your wick is too long or the candle is burning longer than recommended. Ensure you keep the burn pool clean from any dust or debris. For safety reasons always leave approximately 2mm of wax in the bottom to avoid the vessel getting hot and cracking. Burning the candle dry is a fire hazzard.

EXTINGUISHING CANDLES: It is always best practice to use a candle snuffer rather than blowing the flame out, to prevent wicks from drifting off centre and to avoid wax splash. This will help to maximise the candle's burn time.

CANDLE STORAGE: Candles are sensitive to temperature and light. Fragrances with a vanilla content may yellow if exposed to sunlight or fluorescent light. This is normal and does not affect the burning of the candle. Always store your candle in an upright position.

RECYCLE OPTIONS: Once your candle wax has all melted, don’t throw away your candle jar/tin. Simply clean the inside of your jar/tin with some isopropyl and paper towel, peel off the label and use the jar/tin for storing cotton tips, cotton balls, makeup brushes, toothbrush & toothpaste etc. We use quality vinyl labels, not paper, for our candle jars and tins which means you will be able to peel off the existing label without any paper residue remaining.
